Second City Returns to Civic Theatre

Legendary comedy troupe The Second City makes a return visit to Downtown Muncie with their new show "One Nation, Under Blog" for one show only on Saturday, September 22 at 8:00pm.

Tickets for the show are $20 for regular seating and $25 for premium seating in either the first 7 rows of the main section, or the Balcony 21-Club featuring a cash bar. The two-night-only performances will be on the main stage at Muncie Civic Theatre, 216 East Main Street, Muncie, Indiana. Tickets are available by calling 765-288-PLAY or at the Box Office.

THE SECOND CITY was started in a converted Chinese laundry on Chicago's north side in 1959 and has since become the premiere comedy institution of the world. With theatres in Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Las Vegas and Cleveland; training centers in each of these cities as well as New York and Los Angeles; a corporate division that offers creative services to the business world; a TV and film division; and touring groups that bring its unique brand of improv-based sketch comedy all over the world, The Second City has become, in the words of the New York Times, "A Comedy Empire." This world-famous comedy troupe has been the training ground for such legendary comics as John Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, John Candy, Mike Myers, Martin Short, Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Robert Klein, Peter Boyle, Harold Ramis, George Wendt, Shelley Long, Chris Farley and many, many more. Their new show, "One Nation, Under Blog" features straight-from-the-headlines topical humor as well as the best of their sketches, songs and improvisations from THE SECOND CITY'S forty-five-plus year history.

Not only will an evening with THE SECOND CITY provide audiences with the chance to see comedy stars in the making, but they will also have the opportunity to see absolutely hilarious satire and cutting-edge improvisation. In addition to national and international topics, the troupe will also weave local issues and politics into the show by obtaining local newspapers in advance of the performance and incorporating Muncie-based humor into the sketches. No topic or subject matter is off limits for THE SECOND CITY. If your parents asked you not to speak about it at the dinner table, chances are it will be made fun of in an evening with THE SECOND CITY.

This show will mark The Second City's third visit in as many years to Muncie Civic Theatre, having played to sold-out crowds in 2005 & 2006.

For tickets and information call 765-288-PLAY.
