Garfield Beanie Babies

The beloved characters of Muncie's own Garfield are now available as Ty Beanie Babies at the Muncie Visitor's Bureau, 425 North High Street in Downtown Muncie.
The exclusive series is being sold at the MVB through an arrangement with Paws, Inc.

Frampton Comes Alive In Downtown Muncie

Peter Frampton, one of the biggest arena rock star of the 70’s and classic rock legends Kansas will play at this years End-of-Summer Jam, September 10th in the streets of Downtown Muncie.

Frampton’s fame skyrocketed with the release of the album “Frampton Comes Alive” which became the biggest selling live album of its time. Selling over 16 million copies to date, the album includes his hits “Show Me the Way,” “Baby, I Love Your Way,” and “Do You Feel Like I Do.”

An original member of Humble Pie, Frampton is known as one of the best live performers and guitarist in the world.

Also appearing on stage is Kansas featuring original band members, Steve Walsh, Phil Ehart, Robby Steinhardt and Rich Williams. The band is best known for their classic hits “Dust in the Wind,” “Point of No Return,” and “Carry on Wayward Son.”

Starting the evening off will be Drama Queen, an all female band playing hits from Heart and Fleetwood Mac.

This is the third Muncie End-of-Summer Jam. Previous artist include BTO, Grand Funk Railroad, Little River Band, Foreigner, and Atlanta Rhythm Section.

Tickets for the concert are available through all Ticketmaster location and at Ticketmaster.com. Prices are $45 for VIP, $25 and $20 for reserved seating and $15 for lawn.

YART Returns to Downtown Muncie

Uncle Monte's Grand Opening

Welcome Downtown, Uncle Monte!
Uncle Monte's Soul Food Dining & Entertainment restaurant will celebrate its Grand Opening on Tuesday, August 3, at 600 South Mulberry Street. Uncle Monte's will be serving up some fried catfish and chicken and home-style side dishes, baked and vegetarian meals for the health-conscious eater, and of course - desserts. A stage in the dining room will feature music and entertainment, especially on the weekends.
The smoke-free restaurant will be open Tuesdays through Sundays. Reservations are recommended. Uncle Monte's moved downtown from its former location on Hoyt Avenue.

The Great Lakes Story continues at Minnetrista

Mezza Luna is Expanding

After regaining their beer and wince license, downtown restaurant Mezza Luna is planning to add on a large banquet room. According to a Star-Press report, the expansion is one of several improvements, including a new menu, planned by the fine eatery. Mezza Luna is located at 105 East Main Street, at the corner of Main and Walnut streets.

Danners Deserves a Better Deal

Danner's Bookstore lovers are encouraged to participate in a "Free Danner's Appreciation Open Mic and Music Event" presented by Accord Unlimited Service Projects and 401 Poetry Society of Muncie.
The event is open to a limited number of pets and solo artists for a Woodstock-style open mic and music rally supporting Danners Bookstore. The theme is "Danner's Deserves a Better Deal."
Danner's is losing their used books section, children's playroom and readers / meeting space to a fast food franchise (with other stores already in Muncie). Bring lawn chairs, blankets, picket signs, and show your love for Danners.

Blue Bottle Opens New Gallery Space

The Blue Bottle, in conjuction with Gordy's Fine Art and Framing Co., has recently opened a new art gallery space at 206 S. Walnut Street in Downtown Muncie.
Brian Gordy is curator for the new gallery space, which opens with an exhibit of Gordy's watercolor paintings, "Spontaneous Generation: Nature Beyond the Narrative."

Calling All Race Fans!

Dale Earnhardt Jr's #8 Daytona 500 winning show car will be on display Friday, July 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the corner of Charles and Walnut Streets in Downtown Muncie.
The Budweiser Ambassadors will be on hand to take pictures of fans standing next to the car. The car will then head to the Brickyard 400 the following weekend.
Music and concessions will be available. The event is free to the public.

The Blue Bottle and Vera Mae's offer Freaky Tiki Fridays, every Friday this summer after work (5 p.m.)
Tiki torches light up the parking lot between Bank One and the Blue Bottle on the 200 block of South Walnut Street. Meet your friends downtown, where you can find music by local musicians; coffee, tea and snacks from the Blue Bottle, and alcoholic beverages from Vera Mae's.

Muncie Endurathon Celebrates 25 Years

The 25th Muncie Endurathon will cross the finish line at the corner of Charles and Walnut Streets in Downtown Muncie on Saturday, July 17. For complete details, visit www.muncieendurathon.com

INFORMATION
The Muncie Endurathon is a 2004 USA Triathlon Elite/Pro Long Distance Triathlon National Championship race. The course includes 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run. $25,000 Pro Prize Purse / $4,000 Age Group Open Purse.
The Online registration for the 2004 Muncie Endurathon is now closed. You may still register for the race by sending an e-mail to muncieendurathon@yahoo.com. You will be e-mailed a registration form to print off and return to the Endurathon. There are only a few slots left so register immediately.
