Cantilever Walkway Opens with Ribbon Cutting Aug. 30

Join Mayor Dan Canan, Community Enhancement Projects, Cardinal Greenway and other city officials at a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the Cantilever Walkway. The event will take place on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at 10:30 a.m.

If you wish to get in some exercise on your way to the event, join Cardinal Greenway volunteers, Joe and Teresa Willman, as they lead a walk from the Historic Wysor Street Depot, 700 E. Wysor Street, along the White River Greenway, through the Minnetrista campus and arrive at the north end of the Cantilever Walkway for the ceremony. Teresa Willman serves as Board President for Cardinal Greenway.

For those driving, parking is available in the 909 Grille parking lot or behind the historic homes at Minnetrista.

"This ribbon-cutting event celebrates the conclusion of two construction projects that have changed the face of Wheeling Avenue, an entrance corridor for many Muncie visitors," said Lenette Freeman, Executive Director of Cardinal Greenway. "The Cantilever Walkway and the High Street Bridge are beautiful additions to the city. We are anxious to continue work on the White River Greenway so that more residents and tourists can enjoy walking, running, cycling and rollerblading along the river.

The program will include comments from John Craddock, Marjorie Zeigler, Kim Bennett representing Congressman Mike Pence, Mayor Canan and other dignitaries. Light refreshments will also be provided.
