Upcoming Events at Cornerstone Center for the Arts

Calling artists of all ages! Want to participate in this year's Art Show? Submit your work the week of March 30th-April 3rd from 1:00-6:00pm.

The Cornerstone Art Show features 2-D, 3-D, and the newly formed category of video artwork from local community members and surrounding school systems .

Submission forms can be found online at www.cornerstonearts.org or can be filled out when submitting work to the 2nd floor desk.

Cornerstone's annual Juried Art Competition is just around the corner. Join us on April 14th, from 5:00-8:00 pm. Last year we displayed and judged over 220 pieces of art from over 140 artists. Over 400 people attended last year's show.

The show is free and open to the public. This year's featured artists are; Andy Bond, Blair Bowden, Jasen Combs, and Patricia Kreigh. These featured artists will express their creativity through a variety of mediums such as print, video, and pottery. They will also discuss their work and the creative process behind it.

Cash and prizes will be awarded for winners in all age and art categories as well as a Best of Show.

New Workshops

Kite Making and Greeting Cards

Cornerstone is excited to announce two new workshops, Kite Making and Greeting Cards, which will take place Saturday, April 4th from 2:00-4:00pm. Participants will be able to create a craft item and take it home with them during these one time workshops. These workshops provide a great opportunity for you and your family to have fun. They also provide you the opportunity to expand your artistic talents.

Greeting Cards

$15 per person
Handmade greeting cards add that personal touch to every occasion. Come out and learn how to make every occasion just a little more special and take away your own set.

Kite Making
Saturday, April 4th * 2:00 - 4:00 pm
$15 per kite
Bring the family and join us in creating those pieces of whimsical flying art. Build, decorate, and fly your very own kite. Build a kite as a family or as an individual at $15 per kite.

Cornerstone Celebration

Join Cornerstone Center for the Arts in celebrating a successful spring session at our open house to be held Sunday, April 26th, from 2:00-5:00 pm. Take a free class, enjoy crafts, watch dance performances, and more! This event is free and open to the public and will feature: an art gallery, dance class performances, free Kindermusik classes, free dance classes, crafts, refreshments, youth theatre performance, private lessons music recital, and more! Come to support friends and family members or just come to check out what Cornerstone has to offer.

A Taste Of Muncie

The 23rd Annual A Taste of Muncie on Sunday, April 19th from 4-6 pm will feature the area's finest eateries offering their unique delights in a range of categories. Sample appetizers, soups, entrees, salads, desserts and more at the all-you-can-eat fundraising event. Tickets are only $20 per person, groups of ten or more are $18 per person, students are $15 with ID and children under 6 are free for this appetizing event.

This event is sponsored by ESPN Radio 1340, Indiana Arts Commission, WLBC 104.1, WERK 101.7 and 104.9, and MAX 93.5 and 96.7. All proceeds will benefit programming at Cornerstone Center for the Arts. Join us in supporting the arts at this unique event!

Junior Festival

Many of Cornerstone's private music lessons students participated in the Junior Music Festival at Ball State University this March.

A big congratulations to: Ivy Anderson, Audra Ballenger, Autumn Boots, Bethany Brooks, Bridgett Carroll, Helena Fragomeni, Bailey Jarnagin, Foster Jarnagin, Katherine Kornilow, Dora Lott, Tommy Miller, Ross Reagan, Andrew Rhine, Veronica Rhine, Jacob Rollen, Sarah Swingley, Shannon Swingley, Chelsea Wardrop, Courtney Watkins, and Jada Williams for their participation.

Thanks to the teachers for their hard work and preparation: Kitty Johnson, Joan Jones, Judith Kiger, and Lezlie McCrory. Many Cornerstone students received special honors!
