Gordy Fine Art & Framing will exhibit Night Work: Abstract Paintings by Eric Ernstberger. The exhibit will open with a First Thursday reception for the artist on May 1, 2008 from 5 to 8 PM. Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.
Ernstberger, founding partner of Rundell Ernstberger Associates, LLC, hasn't been sleeping much lately. After putting in a full day 's work at his design/site architecture firm and then spending time with his wife, Lisa, and their five children, Ernstberger has been exchanging bedtime for painting time, often working until 3 AM. Wielding a butter knife and a wide array of acrylic paint tubes, he creates without budgetary constraints, time lines, client influence and the various other outside concerns that must be considered as a public architect.
"Painting for me is expression in the raw - an intensely focused yet spontaneous moment... not a measured and calculated pursuit," explains Ernstberger. Not questioning his sudden drive to paint, the artist simply rode the wave of his newfound artistic expression, accumulating seventy two images before approaching local gallery owner, Brian Gordy, for some advice. Ernstberger wanted a professional opinion about his growing body of work. Gordy took one look at the vibrant and expressive work and suggested it was time for an exhibition.
"It's exciting to see the artist exploding out of someone who has spent their lifetime, thus far, designing beautiful places. Eric was always an artist, obviously. He is just now allowing the work to flow in paint." offers Gordy.
The exhibit may also be viewed at the downtown frame shop/gallery during normal business hours through May 31st: Monday through Friday, 9 to 5:30 PM, Saturday, 9 to 3, or by appointment.
