ASSASSINS is a comically dark musical written in 1990 by legendary composer Stephen Sondheim and frequent collaborator John Weidman. Bold, original, surreal, disturbing, thought-provoking and alarmingly funny, ASSASSINS is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written. This most American of musicals lays bare the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the Untied States in an historical "revusical" that explores the dark side of the American experience. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, the authors bend the rules of time and space, taking us on a nightmarish rollercoaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and in an intense final scene inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American Dream.
Under the Direction of Darrin Murrell and Musical Direction by Cody Ricks, the production features performances by Stevie Hahn as the Balladeer, Edward Conley as John Wilkes Booth, Sean Orlosky as Charles Guiteau, Craig Light as Leon Czolgosz, Randy Joiner as Giuseppi Zangara, Kyle Smith as Lee Harvey Oswald, Tom Cherry as Sam Byck, Erica Peterson as Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, Cathy Casazza as Sara Jane Moore and Eric Howard as John Hinkley.
