DOWNTOWN ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Muncie Downtown Business Council will have a meeting next Wednesday, April 18th, at 3pm in the Star Press Conference Room. Downtown Business Council is open to anyone, and not limited to businesses and merchants. Residents, organizations and supporters of downtown in general are all encouraged to attend. Please spread the word, bring a friend, and help take part in making Downtown Muncie the best place to be!

APRIL EVENTS :

13th - Main Street Studio Theatre presents HAIR at 8:00 pm. Reservations and ticket sales are available by calling 765-288-PLAY.

13 - Gallery 308 presents a lecture on watermedia by local artist, Marilynn Derwenskus, at the Gallery. The Friday April 13 lecture is free and starts at 7 p.m. in the classroom of Gallery 308, located at 308 East Main, Muncie. 14th - Gallery 308 presents a workshop on watermedia by local artist, Marilynn Derwenskus, at the Gallery from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the classroom of Gallery 308, located at 308 East Main, Muncie. Workshop participants are invited to bring a "brown bag" lunch to the Gallery on Saturday. Space for the workshop is limited to 18 participants, and a registration fee is charged. 14th - Cornerstone Center for the Arts: The Big Read Sat. 4-6pm, the book for this year is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

18th - Wellness Wednesdays every third Wednesday at the Wysor Street depot, 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Delaware County Health Department staff will offer free blood pressure and glucose testing. 18th - Cornerstone Juried Art Competition from 5:00-8:00pm at Cornerstone Center for the Arts. Works can be submitted the week of April 2nd-6th at Cornerstone, 520 East Main Street in downtown Muncie. The Cornerstone Art Show is open to all ages K through adult, and works in any 2-D or 3-D medium on any theme. Submission & Registration forms can be downloaded online at www.cornerstonearts.org or pick them up at Cornerstone.

19th - Ribbon cutting event for Cardinal Greenway at 11:30 am at the Losantville Trailhead located on Main St. (from Muncie, take 35 past Hwy 36, left on Main St.)

21st - Muncie Children's Museum - Children's Health Fair from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Free admission all day.

22nd - A Taste of Muncie returns to Cornerstone Center for the Arts, 520 E. Main St on Sunday, April 22, from 4 to 6 pm. Children 6 and under are admitted free.

28th - Muncie Children's Museum - Free Family Saturday. Free admission all day! Don't miss Music on the Move with the Muncie Symphony from 11 a.m. until Noon.

28th - Muncie Children's Museum will also be hosting the "Building Better Futures for All Children" Fair from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse Council of Delaware County and VSA Arts of Indiana. Don't miss "Babar Does Yoga" at 10 a.m., Kids on the Block at Noon and Dance and Movement with Sally Leist at 1 pm.

28th - Spring Zing 2007: Downtown Development/Sanitary District and East Central Recycling welcomes everyone downtown from 10am-midnight. There will be games, tournaments, music, races, rummage and sidewalk sales....and of course food and drinks!!!

27th-28th - Muncie Civic Theatre presents SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL at 7:30 pm. Reservations and ticket sales are available by calling 765-288-PLAY.

Through April 28th - Watermedia artist Marilynn Derwenskus will display new works in a new exhibit at Gallery 308 from April 4-28. The opening reception for the exhibit will be April 5 at the gallery. The event is a chance for the public to meet the artist. Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is free.

Through April - Artist Within will feature artwork by three Ball State University seniors: Megan King will exhibit multiple exposure photographs in her solo show entitled "Unconscious Prompts"; and Ben Beaty and TroyReutebuch will have a two-man Senior Thesis Show of drawings and paintings.

Through April 29 - Muncie Children's Museum. Kangaroo Crossing exhibit - enjoy a trip to the "land down under". The Australian exhibit gives visitors the oppportunity to hop over the horizon and learn about Aussie life. Included with regular admission; free to members. Through April - Muncie Children's Museum - Pre-School Clubs. Train Club meets on Tuesdays from 10:30-11:30 am. Dino Club meets on Thursdays from 10:30-11:30 am. Through April 30th- Danner's Books * Gifts * Yarn will be collecting donations for "Take 5 Community Outreach." Donations of all toiletries, first aid, laundry, and household supplies are particularly welcome, as are funds Danner's will collect funds and goods for a different local cause during each month of 2007. Thru May 13th Minnetrista presents: The Magic School Bus Kicks up a Storm, a bilingual, hands-on traveling exhibit created by The Children's Museum of Houston and based on the best-selling Scholastic books and the ever-popular television series.. Call (765) 213-3549 for information.

31st - Muncie Children's Museum - Free Family Saturday - Free Admission all day. Don't miss "Music On The Move" with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra at 11 a.m. Free Saturdays are sponsored by Muncie Sunrise Rotary in memory of Pat Moore.

31st - Cornerstone for the Arts: Cook and Belle, Carl Storie, Sonny Johnson and others will take part in "A Concert of Substance" a fund-raiser for YWCA @ 7pm

MAY ONGOING :

Through May - Artist Within will feature artwork from advanced art students at Muncie Central and Muncie Southside. Opening reception Thurs. 5/3 from 5-8pm.
