Just when you thought that reality TV had reached the end of its natural life and the pot of mindless, vapid "concepts" had finally been emptied, along comes Armed and Famous.

The idea, courtesy of CBS television, is simple. Take a bunch of minor celebrities, give them guns, train them to use said weapons, give them a police uniform and badge, and send them out to uphold the law on the streets.

These new "recruits" as reserve officers are La Toya Jackson, Michael's sister, Jack Osbourne, son of Ozzy, and the skateboarder and Jackass star Wee Man. Also taking part are Erik Estrada, star of the television series CHiPs, in which he played a motorcycle cop, and Trish Stratus, a former wrestler . The series is being filmed in Muncie, Indiana (population 66,000), chosen for its quintessential middle-America features. The city's police are doing the training.

I think the show, "Armed and Famous," STINKS! It appears that half of those apprehended can't speak two coherent words--like mutes--and the other half are either maime (no fingers). Most of the complaints the officers have responded to are filed by trifling, overweight white women. It's PATHETIC! Muncie looks like the slums of Mayberry! The only African American officer on the force, Stoval, hardly gets any TV showing, while the white officers have opportunities to interact with their famous partners. And to make things worse--as if they can get any worse--nobody arrested has been given their Miranda rights. Unless that is done off camera.

And to think, they'd give guns to people like Latoya Jackson, who has had psychological troubles in the past (for brainwashing), and also to Osborne, who's father has been in the headlines on numerous occasions for drug abuses. What a laughingstock the city has become.

Geez! Muncie, how about helping with the terrible unemployment situation in the city; most of the factories are dried-up and closed, or will be closing. If you want to make an impression, do a show about TECHNICAL businesses coming to Muncie and bringing in high-tec jobs.

Oh, and the "CAT" therapist was the breaking-point for me. How insane! One would think Muncie has a bunch of idiots and lunatics in the city roaming the streets at night.

Thank God I no longer live in Muncie. I married a military man over twenty years ago and left the town. Since then, I have been home several times, and NOTHING has changed. In fact, Muncie as only gotten worse. Soon, it will be just like West Virginia--a RUST BUCKET with no employment.
