DOWNTOWN ANNOUNCEMENTS:
MPG, the nonprofit art gallery at 308 East Main, concluded a successful art auction last month. The auction, held in conjunction with a dinner at Vera Mae's Bistro, raised money for A.R.F., the animal rescue program in Delaware County. MPG's Board of Directors wishes to thank A.R.F. for its generosity, and also to thank the artists who donated items for the auction as well as the art and animal lovers who made the event a success. Last but not least, thanks to Kent Shuff and his staff at Vera Mae's for providing dinner and hosting the event.

DECEMBER EVENTS :

14th-16th Main Street Studio Theatre 8:00pm will present DEATH AND THE MAIDEN by Ariel Dorfman. The performances will be on the stage at Main Street Studio Theatre, 222 East Main Street. Reservations and ticket sales are available by calling 765-288-PLAY or at www.munciecivic.org.

15th Minnetrista: presents Winter Stargazing Campfire 5:30pm-9pm, dress warm, bring binoculars, telescope or camera for this special event under the winter sky.

15-16th Muncie Civic Theatre presents Best Christmas Pageant Ever! 7:30pm. Reservations and ticket sales are available by calling 765-288-PLAY or at www.munciecivic.org.

16th - Author Reid Duffy will be at Danner's Books-Gifts-Yarn on Saturday, December 16th, from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m., to sign copies of his newly revised book, Reid Duffy's Guide to Indiana's Favorite Restaurants: With a Recipe Sampler. Reid Duffey is a noted TV personality and columnist.

16th - Muncie Ballet presents The Children's Nutcracker at 7pm in the Edmund Burke Ball Auditorium at Cornerstone Center for the Arts, 520 E Main Street,Call 289-9687 or visit MuncieBallet.org

30th - Muncie Children's Museum - DeFur Voran Free Family Saturday. Enjoy the Museum for free from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

DECEMBER ONGOING:

Through December - Mitchell Place Gallery will showcase Bill Inman during the 'First Thursday,' exhibiting his landscape oil paintings at MPG Thursday, December 7, 5-8pm... Mitchell Place Gallery is the longest running fine art gallery in downtown Muncie... now located at 308 E. Main Street (next to Jack's).

Through Dec. 31 - The Glitterati Salon in Rose Court, 125 E. Charles, will feature local artist Rod Overla through the holidays; his "I believe Series" Christmas Santas" may be ordered or purchased.

Through Dec. 31 - Artist Within will feature recent paintings by Lindsay Walker in a one man show entitled "One Way Signs". An artist reception is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, from 5-8 pm. Handmade gifts from Beyond I Can will be on display and for sale during the First Thursday Holiday Lights festivities.

Dec. 7 through Jan. 29 - Gordy Fine Art & Framing features Pressed for Prints: Traditional & Giclee Holiday Exhibit, featuring 14 area artists. A First Thursday artists' reception will be held from 5 to 8 PM on December 7, 2006 at the downtown frame shop/gallery. Additionally, Brian and Genny Gordy will give a talk at 5:30 PM, Printmaking Methods & How to Start a Print Collection. At 6 PM, Greg Harty will give a talk on Giclee Printing at Jack's Camera Shop. Back at Gordy's, Ben Gordy will demonstrate the art of water gilding beginning at 6:30 PM. The public is invited to each presentation and to the artists' reception. Light refreshments will be served.

Every Wednesday - Muncie Children's Museum: After School Workshop - The Science of Natures Museum, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-registration is required, call for details and cost.

3rd - Muncie Children's Museum - January Weekly After School Workshop - All About Insects. Every Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

5th - Muncie Children's Museum - Friends & Family Fun Night. Free admission from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with special activities for children. Sponsored by Indiana Michigan Power.

15th - Muncie Children's Museum -Normally closed on Monday's, the Museum will be open on January 15, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with activities featuring African American artists.
