Celebrate the Season With Your Friends in Downtown Muncie!

The Downtown Business Council invites merchants, friends and residents of downtown to join us for a Holiday Mixer on Thursday, December 7th (following Holiday Lights), at 9:00pm at the Fickle Peach on Charles Street. This is a great opportunity to network with your downtown peers and enjoy a little holiday cheer.

On Friday, December 8th, current and potential members are invited to attend the Muncie Young Professionals Group holiday party, from 7:30-9:30pm at The Lofts 301 S. Walnut. Appetizers and cash bar provided by Vera Mae's; dress in cocktail, dressy casual or festive attire. RSVP to Traci Lutton at tlutton@muncie.com.

Other downtown holiday celebrations include Chamber After Hours at Stirling's from 5-7pm on December 7th.


BRING THE FAMILY TO HOLIDAY LIGHTS DOWNTOWN ON THURSDAY, DEC. 7TH

Downtown will celebrate Holiday Lights to celebrate the season on Thursday, Dec. 7th, from 5-9pm., beginning with a lighting ceremony at the courthouse square. The event is part of the monthly First Thursdays art gallery exhibit openings. Bring the whole family to enjoy holiday carolers, children's activities and holiday movie. Warm up with refreshments and hot drinks offered at many spots throughout downtown, and ride the trolley for free! Also taking place willb e the Muncie Symphony League Chili Cook Off, Midwest Writer Book Sale, not to mention specialty foods and crafts, street musicians and lots of Downtown cheer! OTHER FIRST THURSDAY AND HOLIDAY EVENTS:

Through Dec. 31 - The Glitterati Salon in Rose Court, 125 E. Charles, will feature local artist Rod Overla through the holidays; his "I believe Series" Christmas Santas" may be ordered or purchased.

Through Dec. 31 - Artist Within will feature recent paintings by Lindsay Walker in a one man show entitled "One Way Signs". An artist reception is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, from 5 to 8 pm. Handmade gifts from Beyond I Can will be on display and for sale during the First Thursday Holiday Lights festivities. Heidi and Vicki also invite you to come to their one day show/sale of "look-alike" handbags during First Tursday Deember 7th 5-9pm.

Dec. 7 through Jan. 29 - Gordy Fine Art & Framing features Pressed for Prints: Traditional & Giclee Holiday Exhibit, featuring 14 area artists. A First Thursday artists' reception will be held from 5 to 8 PM on December 7, 2006 at the downtown frame shop/gallery. Additionally, Brian and Genny Gordy will give a talk at 5:30 PM, Printmaking Methods & How to Start a Print Collection. At 6 PM, Greg Harty will give a talk on Giclee Printing at Jack's Camera Shop. Back at Gordy's, Ben Gordy will demonstrate the art of water gilding beginning at 6:30 PM. The public is invited to each presentation and to the artists' reception. Light refreshments will be served.
