It's that time again! Downtown Muncie has once again partnered with Ball State to bring the parents of incoming freshmen to Downtown Muncie as part of orientation. Between June 3rd and July 10th, the parents are bused downtown in large groups every Tuesday through Thursday, from 10:30am to 11:50am. They are given the choice to take a guided tour of downtown or to explore downtown on their own.
Lots of help is needed from downtown businesses, organizations and residents, or anyone who can contribute in the following areas:
--> Tour guides are needed! There will be a training session and "script" provided. Click Here to volunteer or request more info or call Cheryl atDowntown Development.
--> Door prize donations are needed! One prize will be given away on each of the 22 days. Call Cheryl if you have a standalone prize, or any thing to add to a gift bag assortment.
--> Coupon participants are needed! Downtown businesses are encouraged to take part in a discount card designed to bring the parents into your business, and to get them to return when they come back for Family Weekend in October. Call Bob Hartley at The Artist Within right away if you'd like to take part in this popular promotion.
--> Promotional materials are needed! An info packet will be given to the orientation studentsw and parents. If your business or organizations hasany literature, brochures or flyers you would like to have included in the packet, bring 1500 pieces to the Muncie Visitors Bureau by May 19.
--> We want them to feel welcome! Red and white window displays or flowers are encouraged. Storefronts are also encouraged to display Downtown welcome signs in their windows. Download and print your own at munciedowntown.com, or call the Downtown Development office for signage. And please take the time to spiffy up your part of downtown. DBC MEETING AND MIXER
The Muncie Downtown Business Council will meet Wednesday, May 28th at 3pm in the Star Press building conference room. The agenda will include a heart of the city update and important updates on the BSU downtown market study and the proposed action plan.
A "Meet the Members" mixer will follow the meeting at David Dale Designs, 421 S. Walnut St., from 4:30 to 6:00pm.
DBC meetings typically last one hour. This is an excellent opportunity to network with your downtown peers, keep informed of downtown happenings, and learn all about the Downtown Business Council and our continued efforts to market your business and our downtown neighborhood. You don't have to be a DBC member to attend the meetings, but we encourage your involvement in the organization.
The Downtown Business Council typically meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 3pm at the Star Press building.
The "Meet the Members" mixers are held very other month at varying locations, immediately following the meeting. The next mixer will be July 23rd at White River Landing. If your business would like to host a mixer, please email info@munciedowntown.com.
Please tell them you saw it on munciedowntown.com
