Downtown Announcements: Cornerstone Center for the Arts is calling for submissions for the second annual Cornerstone Art Show on April 15th. Entries will be accepted at Cornerstone during the week of March 31 - April 4. Read more...

Spring Zing returns for a second year to Downtown Muncie on April 26th. Volunteers are needed to help with setup, working gates, and cleanup. Call Cheryl Crowder at 282-7897.

27th - Gallery 308's Living Art Series welcomes ceramist Kimberly Anderson, who will present a free slide presentation featuring her work at 7 p.m. on Thursday March 27.

28th - Brown Bag Lunch lecture series at BSU Center for Media Design at Mitchell Place Gallery, 301 S. Walnut St. This month's lecture features Trina Cooper (USA | 3D Animation/Media Artist, Assistant Professor at Ball State University) .

28th & 29th - Muncie Civic Theatre presents Anne of Green Gables, March 28, 29 and April 10, 11, 18 & 19at 7:30pm as well as April 6 at 2:00pm. 28th - Center Stage presents Red Horse w/ Devil to Pay, Lo-Pan, and Cocaine Wolves Doors open @ 8pm.

29th - Morton's Pub & Grub features acoustic music from Daniel Seymour Saturday Mar 29, 2008 at 8:00 PM.

29th - Jake Hendershot will perform at White River Landing on Saturday March 29th @ 9:00pm. As usual, the show is all ages and FREE!

29th - Doc's Music Hall features Losing September and Boho Paisley, 8pm.

31st - Community Center for Vital Aging: The Art of Writing: Memories to be remembered and recorded 6:30-8:00pm

MARCH ONGOING :

Through March - Tthe Artist Within will feature paintings by Lynnsy Terrill from March 4-29, 2008. An opening reception, which is free and open to the public, will be from 5-8pm on Thursday, March 6.

Through March -Artworks will exhibit "Passion and Sensitivity" featuring paintings by Sandy Day. An opening reception will be held during First Thursday, March 6, 5:30pm to 8:30pm

Through March - Gordy Fine Art and Framing will exhibit paintings by Robert Farlow. The artist will be on hand for a reception during the First Thursday event, from 5 to 8 PM on March 6th. Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.

Through March - Gallery 308 will exhibit "Ben Bates and Ted Neal: New Ceramics Work." The opening reception for the pair's new exhibit is First Thursday, March 6 at 308 East Main in downtown Muncie. Admission is free; refreshments will be served.

Through March 30 - 18th Minnetrista Annual Juried Art Show & Sale. The visual arts are alive and flourishing in East Central Indiana. Artists from across East Central Indiana will participate in the 18th Minnetrista Annual Juried Art Show & Sale. The exhibit will be open to the public February 16 - March 30, 2008 at Minnetrista.

3rd - Bill Goshnell, Delaware County Emergency Management Agency director will discuss disaster preparedness at 5pm at Muncie Civic Theatre. At 6pm Dan Burkholder famed photographer will be speaking.

3rd - Peter Blume will offer remarks about framing at 6:30 PM at Gordy Fine Art & Framing, at the opening of "The Frame Show" exhibit.

3rd - Groove-A-Tron at Doc's Music Hall, doors open 8pm.

20th - Cornerstone for the Arts announces 2008 A Taste of Muncie, over 22 local restaurants will be participating this year.

26th - The Muncie YWCA, Weed & Seed, Del. Co. Coordinaing Council for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, United Way of Delaware County, Parents Encouraging Parents and Fight Against Drugs and Violence will celebrate SPIRIT DAY and the public is invited. The YWCA will host speakers and resouce providers in the morning. Free "toolbox" kits with information for parents will be offered. Then at 1 pm join us in Heekin Park for an outdoor festival with games, face-painting, and an outdoor cookout. Singers, dancers and a Youth Idol Karaoke Contest will also be part of the fun. Festivities will continue until 5 pm. For more information contact the YWCA.

Through April 26th - Gallery 308 welcomes Dan Burkholder's Photo Exhibit "The Color of Loss; An Intimate Portrait of New Orleans after Katrina" in April. Join us Thursday April 3 from 5-9 p.m. for his new exhibit and book signing. The show will run thru April 26th.

Through April 26th - Gordy Fine Art & Framing will present "The Frame Show: Framus Fantasticus" on display through April. The Frame Show opens during the monthly First Thursday art event on April 3rd from 5 to 8 PM. Peter Blume will offer remarks about the framing at 6:30 PM. Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend.
