Upcoming Events at Cornerstone Center for the Arts

Join Cornerstone as we celebrate our summer classes! The second annual Cornerstone Carnival will be held on August 10th, 2:00-5:00pm.
All classes and lessons will be showcased through performances, visual arts exhibits, multimedia, and a private lessons recital. You will also have the opportunity to sign up for fall classes.
The Cornerstone Carnival is a FREE event open to the entire community, so make sure to invite your friends, family, and neighbors!
The carnival will include games for children of all ages, prizes, crafts, free classes such as Hip Hop Aerobics, Line Dancing, Ballroom Dance, and Kindermusik, performances, Rock Band & Guitar Hero video games provided by Best Buy, raffle prizes provided by Texas Roadhouse, an art gallery, refreshments and much more! Cornerstone Carnival has something for every member of the family.
The Cornerstone Carnival is Sunday, August 10th from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Don't forget to invite your family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else who is interested in a FREE community event.
This year, Best Buy, the Community Foundation, and McDonald's are corporate sponsors of the Cornerstone Carnival and are dedicated to making this event as successful as possible.

Fall Class Registration
Registration for Cornerstone's fall classes begins Sunday, August 10th at the Cornerstone Carnival. Fall classes begin Monday, September 15th. We will be offering several of the same classes, as well as some new and exciting options!
Registering for classes has never been easier or more convenient. You can come by our building, located at 520 E. Main St., or go online to www.cornerstonearts.org . Simply click the 'Class Registration' link and follow the directions from there.
Gather your friends and head to Cornerstone this fall for the opportunity to participate in dance, art, music, theatre, language, Kindermusik and visual arts classes.

Cornerstone Art Gallery
Blair Bowden, a current Ball State University student, will have his art work on display in the Cornerstone Gallery from August 7th to September 2nd. The show is titled Images and Words featuring 20 pieces of his recent work.
The piece pictured in the article is entitled "Cubism Study" is a mixed media piece of newspaper and oil paint on wood. Blair's pieces are a mixture of graphic design, photography, painting, ink, and other media.
Blair is currently a visual communications major at BSU with an emphasis in Graphic Design. Blair has lived in Kentucky, Indiana, and Japan. His work is often inspired by his travels and experiences with other cultures.
This is the second show in the newly renovated Cornerstone Gallery. The gallery is located on the second floor of our building. The gallery will continue to exhibit and promote the artwork of Cornerstone students and instructors, local high school and college students, as well as local and regional artists.

Children's and Youth Choirs
Beginning Tuesday, September 16th, Cornerstone will be offering a Children's Choir for children in grades 3rd-5th and a Youth Choir for children in grades 6th-8th. Both choirs will meet weekly from September through the end of May.
Under the direction of Dr. Christina Lamb, the choirs will prepare for two community concerts. Dr. Lamb will provide quality music selections in an educational setting as your child learns the dynamics of working in a choral group.
Dues for the choir are $140.00 for the year. A payment plan of $20.00 per month for 7 months is also an option. Dues for siblings are $100 per year. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.

Educational Workshops
Cornerstone's educational workshops are ideal for team building, socializing, doing something creative, or just having fun.
Workshops are available for youth groups, retirement parties, office retreats, school groups, and more. In the past we have hosted workshops for groups such as Muncie Young Professionals Group, Ball State University, youth groups, Taylor University, and many more.
Workshops are available in several areas of the arts, including: jewelry making, line dancing, acting, American Sign Language, ballroom dancing, drawing, ceramics, painting, drawing, and more.
The workshops are priced at $5.00 a person or $7.00 per person if the workshop includes supplies.

Support Cornerstone
Cornerstone Center for the Arts is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that needs community support to succeed in its mission. If you feel that Cornerstone has benefited you and this community, please consider donating funds, materials, or time to help maintain this organization.
We are currently in need of carpeting for the private lessons hallway and studios, a video camera, a digital camera, quality art supplies, computers with Pentium 4 or higher processors, flat screen monitors, empty Dell, HP, and Lexmark ink cartridges, and more.
