Downtown Announcements: Celebrate the arts tonight in Downtown Muncie during our monthly First Thursday event, January 3rd, from 5 to 8pm. Our many art galleries spotlight their exhibit openings on the first Thursday evenings of every month, with meet-the-artist receptions.
The Artist Within (313 South Walnut) will offer a "Sneak Peek" of work by the artists who will be featured in 2008. They will host a "First Thursday" opening from 5-8 pm January 3rd.
Artworks (301 South Walnut) presents an exhibit by Jack Orrick, "The Wood Speaks," (pictured at right), with an opening reception at First Thursdays, January 3, 2008, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Gallery 308 (308 E. Main) presents an exhibit by Margie Prim, to open on January 3, 2008. The public is invited to the opening reception, 5-8 p.m., when light refreshments will be served and the artist will be on hand.
Gordy Fine Art & Framing (224 E. Main) will continue its annual Print Show, featuring twenty area artists. Selections will include many sizes, subjects and price ranges, with all works available for purchase. The print show is the largest exhibit of the year at Gordy's. Prints may be removed from the exhibit at the time of purchase. The Annual Print Show will continue through January.
Mitchell Place Studio (301 South Walnut) See monthly showcase of recent, supported student art and research projects from the Institute for Digital Intermedia Arts & Animation Student Art & Research, in association with First Thursdays downtown.
