Award-winning Muncie artist, Brian Gordy, will exhibit the “Turtle Series” watercolor paintings October 13-January 12. These paintings have been the focus of his research and artwork for the past 10 years.
Gordy’s works portray the basking habits and naturally composed self-arrangements he has witnessed during many hours of observation along the banks of local and regional water bodies. “These turtles are impressive, if not iconic, when you realize some might be 50 to 60 years old. They survived the polluted waters of the 60s, 70s and 80s when the river’s species counts fell dramatically as a result of heavy industrial and sewage contaminations,” Gordy says. “But these paintings are simply about the beauty of the animal.”
