DOWNTOWN ANNOUNCEMENTS: The Muncie Downtown Business Council will meet, Wednesday, October 31st at 3pm in the Star Press conference room. Please make a point to attend! We value your input.

The Muncie Visitors Bureau is in search of fall/winter photos taken in Delaware County. It can be of your attraction, event, community etc. These photos will be used on the web and community calendar that is circulated to hotels for visitors. Photo credit will be given where possible.


OCTOBER EVENTS:

25th - Cornerstone Center for the Arts annual Community Halloween Party 4-6pm. This event is open to the public at no cost; we will have games, crafts, story telling, and refreshments. Costumes are not required, but are enjoyed.

25-27th - The Basement at Muncie Children's Museum returns this Halloween season with "Nightmare on High Street." The Basement is open from 6 to 10pm on Thursday through Saturdays, October through Oct. 27 at the Muncie Children's Museum, 515 S. High Street in Downtown Muncie. 26-27th - The Main Street Studio Theatre will present a return engagement of THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at 10:00pm. 27th - All Beers Considered fundraiser for Indiana Public Radio at The Fickle Peach from 3-5pm. Taste a sampling of brews from regional microbreweries, learn tasting tips, bid on brewery tours & more in the silent auction. 27th - Adult Gingerbread Demonstration at Minnetrista, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Learn from baker Mona Bever, from Under the Sun Country Bakery, the techniques for building and designing gingerbread houses. 27th - 2007 Run the Greenway 10K run and 5K walk. Begin and end at the Wysor Street Depot. Race/walk begins at 9:00 am, registration 7:30 - 8:30 am. Entry fee $12 until October 19th, $15 after and day of event. Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place top Male and Female racers and in 13 age categories. 31st - Gallery 308's Living Art Series will feature the talents of encaustic painter and author Richard Frumess. Frumess will discuss his work and the process of encaustic painting at the Gallery on Wednesday, October 31, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission to the program is free. Light refreshments will be provided.

1st-31st The Artist Within features members of the Muncie Artist Guild, opening reception Oct. 4th from 5-9pm.

Through October - Daily Themed Days at the Muncie Childrens Museum. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, starting at 11:00 a.m. and the last activity of the day starts at 3:00 p.m. The current themed days are: Tricky Tuesday, Weird Science Wednesday, Theatre Thursday and Fun Friday. Children will take part in activities associated with each themed day such as story time, science activities and art projects in Make N Take. No registration is required. All themed day activities are included with the price of admission. Children can bring a lunch. NOVEMBER EVENTS:

2nd - A ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the South Walnut Street Roundabout is scheduled for Friday November 2nd from noon-1:00pm with official comments and ribbon cutting at 12:15. Brown bag lunch from Carter's Hotdog Cart and live musical entertainment from Muncie Central High School Band will be available throughout the lunch hour. The public is encouraged to attend. 16th - Join Vera Mae's Bistro for the 5th Annual Wine Dinner and Art Auction on Friday, November 16. Art preview will be at 6pm, with wine dinner at 7pm. Proceeds of the art auction to benefit Gallery 308 and ARF. Cost of the wine dinner if $75 per person (prepaid) and seating is limited to 75 guests. Through November - The Artist Within will feature artwork by members of "Creative Artists", a local organization that has a membership with a wide range of interests and mediums. These artists work in drawing, mixed media, oils, pastels, watercolor, sculpture and photography. The exhibit and sale will run November 1-30, 2007. An artists reception will be held from 5-8 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2007.

Through December - Artworks Gallery will exhibit "The Painters of Life and Light" from November 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007. An opening reception will be held during First Thursday Downtown, November 1, 2007 from 5:30 pm to 8:30pm, with light refreshments.
