Free Friday Night Movies Downtown are back this summer, but in a new location at the Downtown Development building in the 400 block of S. Walnut St. (across from the new building construction). The season opens with Happy Feet (Rated G) at dusk on Friday, June 1st.
All movies will begin at dusk. Not-for-profit groups will be handling the concession stands -- popcorn, candy bars and other movie goodies.

June 1: Happy Feet, Rated G. In Antarctica, the Emperor Penguin must attract his mate with his own distinctive heart song. Mumble is a penguin who is born without the ability to sing -- but he sure can dance.
June 8: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Rated PG. Based on Ann Brashares's best-selling novel, this film takes us through a very special summer for a group of four 16-year-old friends who are separated for the first time. The girls find a magical pair of jeans that fits each of them perfectly and they use this enchanted outfit as a way to keep in touch.
June 15: Step Up, Rated PG-13. Tyler is a delinquent from the wrong side of the tracks. Nora is a privileged ballerina at Baltimore's ultra-elite Maryland School of the Arts. Sparks fly when they meet as she realizes that his street style might make him the perfect partner for her senior showcase dance. Can he step up?
June 22: Dreamgirls, Rated PG-13. The popular film, based on the Broadway hit that features a trio of African American female soul singers in the early '60s. The friendship of the three girls from Chicago is put to the test when they are faced with the pressure of money, fame and adulation. Features the breakout and Oscar-winning performance of Jennifer Hudson.
June 29: Open Season, Rated PG. Boog is a happily domesticated 900-pound grizzly bear who has his comfortable world as the star of a local nature show turned upside down when he is stranded out in the woods at the beginning of hunting season. He must join forces with a fast-talking wild mule deer named Elliot until Beth, a local forest ranger, can find them.
July 6: Charlotte's Web, Rated G. This classic story based on the beloved book by E.B. White is updated in this 2006 film starring Dakota Fanning as Fern, who becomes quite attached to her young pig Wilbur.
July 13: Cars, Rated G. This high octane adventure follows Lightning McQueen, a hot shot stock car, heading to the big race. He gets bogged down in Radiator Springs and learns about true friendship during this unexpected pit stop.
July 20: Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Rated PG-13. Ahoy mates! Captain Jack is back and finds himself with a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones. Will and Elizabeth are planning a wedding but are forced to put that on hold to help Jack out of yet another predicament.
July 27: Hoot, Rated PG. When young Roy moves from Montana to Florida with his family, he ends up befriending two kids who are fighting to protect the home of a group of endangered burrow owls from a real estate developer. Based on the popular children's book with new music from producer Jimmy Buffett.
Aug. 3: Flushed Away, Rated PG. A pampered British rat named Roddy is flushed into the London sewers when he tries to rid the house of unwanted (and unwashed!) guest Sid. Used to the good life, he must make it on his own in the sewer world of Ratropolis run by the villainous Toad who has it in for all rodents.
Aug. 10: Unaccompanied Minors, Rated PG. It's the holiday season and a huge blizzard has shut down the Chicago's O'Hare airport. Five unaccompanied minors are determined to have their own holiday fun running wild inside the terminal, joyriding on golf carts and plummeting through baggage chutes all while outwitting and outrunning an uptight airport official and his gullible assistant.
Aug. 17: RV, Rated PG. Overworked executive Bob McNeive (Robin Williams) is about to embark on the most dangerous adventure of his life -- a two-week cross-country trip in an RV with his family.
Aug. 24: Zoom, Rated PG. In this comedy, Jack is former super hero Captain Zoom. He has been out of the business for a while but is called back into action to turn a ragtag group of new recruits into the next generation of superheroes.
Aug. 31: Beauty Shop, Rated PG-13. Forget the Barbershop, there's is much more to talk about at the Beauty Shop. Gina (Queen Latifah) moves to Atlanta so her daughter can attend a prestigious music school and she opens her own salon with a motley crew of characters who are in for a shampoo, shine, but are mostly there to speak their minds in this hair-raising comedy.
