Downtown Development Partnership, MSD Recycling and Education Program and The PhyXTGears Robotics Team will host a Community New Year's Eve Celebration with a "Times Square" type ball drop and fireworks at midnight.
Festivities will begin December 31st at 10:30pm on the Delaware County Courthouse Square with a candlelight walk to the event area in the 400 block of Walnut St. Everyone is invited to bring a candle or flashlight and join us as we celebrate the strength of community in 2009.
The event will feature live music from Central High School Students: CHS Jazz followed by the party sounds of Doc Peterson, Dunn and Simmons. Warm tents, kid's activities, fire barrels, a new year wish tree, and projection of NYC's Time Square celebration will keep everyone entertained as we gear up for the big ball drop and fireworks at midnight! This is an alcohol free, family friendly event.
Our local "robotics team" PhyXTGears, composed of high school students from all schools in Muncie and Delaware have designed a New Year's Eve ball, to be lowered from a giant crane at midnight. Check this link for more info about the team and track their progress as they build the ball:
