News from Downtown Muncie 5/12/06

ArtsWalk 2006 Committee Meeting
Please join us in the Downtown Development Board Room next Wednesday, May 17th, at 11 am for our initial planning meeting. ArtsWalk will be the First Thursday in October - the 5th, from 5 to 9 PM. All gallery entities are encouraged to send representation. Anyone else who just wants info, or wants to help plan is welcome!

Beginning June 9th through August 25th Downtown Development and Mutual Federal Savings Bank will host Free Friday Night Movies Downtown every Friday night on the big white wall at the corner of Walnut and Charles St. We are now taking requests from not for profit organizations who would like to assist with set-up and sell concessions to benefit their organization during the movies. 21st. Muncie Civic Theatre presents: European Cabaret 2:00pm

21st - Minnetrista Cultural Center: Classy Cakes Food Preservation and Culture, 1-4 pm

21st - Minnetrista Cultural Center: Red-tail Nature Preserve Minne-trip: Join Robin Dungan, naturalist, and John Taylor, Ball State University Field Stations Land Manager to explore the Red-tail Nature Preserve's 105 acres. 2-6 pm

25th-27th Muncie Civic Theatre presents: European Cabaret 8:00pm

25th - Mitchell Place Gallery Living Art Series - artist Barbara Zeck and Ray Montagno from the Ball State University School of Business will present "Imani Workshops: A Craft Micro-Enterprise to Benefit HIV-Positive Individuals in Kenya" at 7 pm.

4th-13th ArtWorks Gallery exhibit: Decorate, Adorn, Illuminate by Heidi Hale and Lynette Whitesell: Opening reception May 4th 5-8pm

19th-30th ArtWorks presents: Occupational Hazard exhibit hours 11:30-5:30

New Daily Programming Begins in May at the Muncie Children's Museum:
Strawberry Sensation: ABC Read with Me, Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m.
Make It Move in May: Wednesday Workshops at 3:30 p.m.
Make and Take Mania: Thursdays at 3:30 p.m.
April Showers Bring May Flowers: Friday, May 12, 19 and 26 at 3:30 p.m.

8th - Mitchell Place Gallery Living Art Series at 7 pm. "River Odyssey: Two Artists on the Wabash" presenting local artists David Dale and Jim Faulkner.
