News from Downtown Muncie 10/28/2005

Downtown Business Council Important Items:

1. Muncie Downtown Business Council (DBC) Membership Drive-- Individual membership $25 per year, corporate $50; membership form to arrive in the mail in November, or see Tom Steiner, Membership Chair, or Genny Gordy for details. Also, election of DBC board is scheduled for December/January.

2. Our holiday event this year will take place on First Thursday, Dec. 1st. Please start collecting white lights for all of your windows, be prepared to purchase a wreath ($15) from Kiwanis (see Tom Steiner) for a unifying element to our downtown district, and consider filling your business with poinsettas from the Little Red Door. $15 each, purchased separately, $12 if we buy in groups of 25 or more. Call 284-9063.

3. Returning: last year's successful Holiday Gift Giveaway program. Be thinking about your business' giveaway item. Email to aallen@muncie.gannett.com (Andrea Allen) with "Holiday Giveaway" in the subject line by Nov 10th.

4. Are you ready for sidewalk snow removal? The city ordinance says all sidewalks must be cleared by 10 AM - each morning, folks! Please make arrangements before winter hits - there could be tickets in our forecast, as well as snow! We don't want to discourage shoppers with ice & slush.

5. If you are interested in a leadership position for Downtown Business Council for the coming year, please let Genny Gordy know, so your name can be added to the ballot. gengor@aol.com Help direct our efforts! Your leadership skills are needed! It's also fun!
