Local Artists' Exhibit Featured At Minnetrista

Take a journey along the Wabash River with local artists David Dale and Jim Faulkner. Minnetrista will host River Odyssey: Two Artists Follow the Wabash March 24 - June 24.
These Delaware County artists chronicled their experiences over 15 years, 500-miles and in four seasons along the winding course of the Wabash River. This exhibit features paintings, artists' sketches, and artifacts that detail the river's history, wildlife, scenery, landmarks and more.

Minnetrista hours are: Mon. - Sat., 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Sun., 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Admission is FREE to members. General Admission is $4 child/student; $6 senior; $7 adult.

The Wabash River is an historic transportation and trade route with 466 miles running through Indiana. It enters the state from Ohio between Jay and Adams counties and curves north before arcing west across the upper third of the state, then south to define the southwestern boundary between Indiana and Illinois.

Intrigued by the river and its Hoosier history, Muncie artists David Dale and Jim Faulkner shared an ambition to paint along the entire length of the river. Beginning at a farm ditch in the state of Ohio where the river originates, to the southwest tip of Indiana where the waterway joins the Ohio River, they created a series of visual impressions with watercolors, oil paintings and pastels. Choosing portions of the river, the artists took one to three day trips from Muncie. The end goal was to create a major exhibition of landscapes and river town scenes from each of the counties bordering the river.

River Odyssey: Two Artists Follow the Wabash has been traveling Indiana the entire year and will conclude at Minnetrista. For more information on this exhibit or Minnetrista, visit www.minnetrista.net.

Located along historic White River, Minnetrista includes 40 acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, a modern museum facility, an historic home, Nature Area, numerous sculptures, and a portion of the White River Greenway. Minnetrista serves East Central Indiana with dynamic community activities and exhibits that honor and reflect its natural and cultural heritage. For more information about Minnetrista, visit www.minnetrista.net.

"I'm Working for MY Red Cross Day"

There is an exciting Red Cross event that will take place in March. It is called "I'm Working for MY Red Cross Day." “I’m Working for MY Red Cross Day” funds will be used to provide hope, food, clothing and shelter for local families affected by disaster as well as provide 24 hour emergency communications for members of the military and their families.

March is a very special month for the Red Cross. Since 1943, when President Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared March Red Cross Month for unparalleled service to the war effort, each sitting President since has signed a proclamation extending the honor. They have done so to call America's attention to the need to support the organization's worldwide humanitarian efforts.

We are so excited about the "I'm Working for MY Red Cross Day" event, we can't wait to share it with you. Our objective is to increase public awareness for all that the Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross is doing in Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Franklin, Jay, Randolph and Rush Counties, while also empowering people to make a difference in the lives of their families, friends and neighbors. To participate, employer’s chose a day in March giving their employees an opportunity to donate $5 to the Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross. They will be given a button to wear that says “I’m Working for MY Red Cross”. They will also be given a brochure “Be Red Cross Ready” which is a three step plan to prepare for disasters.

Please contact Stephanie LeBlanc at 284-3361 or 1-800-480-4403 or sleblanc@redcross-hhc.org. As always, we appreciate your continued interest in the work of the Hoosier Heartland Chapter of the American Red Cross.
